About 8th Generation Vineyard
Why it stands out
8th Generation Vineyard brings a long family winemaking story from Rheinhessen to Summerland. Bernd and Stefanie Schales trace the family grape-growing tradition back to 1783, then carried that experience into the Okanagan after moving to British Columbia in 2003. Their Summerland property was acquired in 2007 and remains a hands-on family winery with estate vineyards close to Okanagan Lake.
What to expect on a visit
This stop is a strong fit for guests who like smaller family wineries, cool-climate whites, Pinot-focused wines, and a direct sense of place. The Summerland estate vineyard is planted to Pinot Noir, Riesling, Syrah, and Pinot Meunier, with the lake helping moderate the growing season.
Tour planning notes
Add 8th Generation when the day is focused on Summerland and Bottleneck Drive. It works well for guests who want vineyard detail, family history, and a quieter estate feel instead of a large resort-style stop.
