About Elephant Island Winery
Why it stands out
Elephant Island Winery is a Naramata Bench winery that began on a five-acre cherry orchard and grew into a family project built around fruit, place, and low-intervention fermentation. Launched from the farm in 1999, the winery is now paired with Naramata Cider Co., which started in 2017.
What to expect on a visit
This is not a standard grape-only winery stop. Elephant Island works with wine, fruit wine, reserve wines, and cider, all tied to farm life, orchard fruit, Naramata sunshine, clay banks, lake breezes, and a diverse agricultural landscape.
Tour planning notes
Elephant Island is a strong Naramata route choice when guests want something distinctive and conversation-starting. It is especially useful for mixed groups because the tasting range can feel fresh, playful, and different from a day of only traditional grape wines.
