About Nichol Vineyard
Why it stands out
Nichol Vineyard is one of the original pioneering wineries on the Naramata Bench, with the first part of its home vineyard planted in 1989 and completed in 1991. It operates on a small scale and has built its reputation on farming, low yields, and wines that reflect the cool-climate edge of Naramata.
What to expect on a visit
The winery farms its wines within a short distance of the winery, does much of the vineyard work by hand, and uses low-intervention cellar practices. Nichol is also known for Syrah history, with a vineyard block described by the winery as the first Syrah planted in Canada.
Tour planning notes
Nichol is a strong Naramata stop for serious wine drinkers who appreciate older vineyards, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, and a quieter, less marketing-driven experience. It fits best into routes built around wine quality and history rather than patio entertainment.
